PUTO: UPGRADED.

My first encounter of this Puto version was around December last year from an ambulant vendor passing by a Manila bus terminal.

I was surprised when I saw the rice cakes cut into diamonds (rhombi, actually.) and even more suprised when I saw the vendor slather a thick spread of Yema on each. 5 pesos per piece, not bad.

Whoever thought of making those little yellow pyramid sweets into spreads? -- g.e.n.i.u.s.

Gone are the days when our 10 pesos could buy 4 pieces of small, round, plain, boring puto flats.

In this world of business, people are keeping up with change. Everything has leveled up.. Even puto. :)

useful translations:
Puto - rice cake
Yema - custard candy
